November 2013 News

GENERAL INTRODUCTION October finished with a bang and we are now almost half way through November. Before we know it Christmas will be knocking on the door. As you would all be aware it is Men’s Health Awareness Month – Movember. Are any of you boys participating by growing interesting facial hair? You often see some stunning examples during this time……if any of you are fund raising and cultivating a beard or moustache, let me know. Anne tells me that the Ashes series starts in ten days. She also reckons we have no chance! I will...

October 2013 News

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Final’s fever has been and gone and we have seen the Hawks win over Fremantle in the AFL Grand Final. Not sure if Tony was good for much the next day, he tells me he was okay, but I’m not so sure. He is still getting over Buddy’s possible defection to Sydney! So who would have thought that the Rooster’s would take out the NRL flag? I had big hopes for the Bunnies this year, it is time they scored themselves another premiership. Let’s hope that unlike the Swan’s they don’t have to wait 72 years. So now I suppose I will...

September 2013 News

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Well the football season is done and dusted in the AFL. Tony is a very happy man as the Hawks have taken out the minor premiership. Finals start this week and by the time I write again the season will be over. It has been a tense month in the NRL with the Rabbitoh’s dropping the bundle there for a while and opening the door for the Roosters. It will be a blockbuster season finale with Rabbits v Roosters this weekend in round 26! If your team is playing finals in either code good luck. Not sure what I am going to cover...

August 2013 News

GENERAL INTRODUCTION August is upon us and we are now in the last month of winter. Won’t be long now and all you sun lovers will be happy. I believe that the guys in Tasmania are still freezing. They have been complaining about how cold it is and the amount of snow this year. Melbourne in the other hand has had its warmest winter in years and today as I write this the top temperature expected in Sydney is 24! What winter? We are down to the pointy end of the season and whilst the top teams are much the same there have been a few movements up...

July 2013 News

General Introduction   July has arrived and as I write I am wondering if any of you are participating in the annual ‘Dry July’ fund raiser. I thought about giving it a try, but winter is too cold and the odd drink warms you up! Sounds like a good theory anyway. My football comment this month is much the same as last. The Rabbitoh’s are still a full two games ahead on the NRL ladder and the bloody Hawks are still on top in the AFL. There are still a few rounds to go, so things may yet change. Let’s hope so or Tony will be unbearable by...

June 2013 News

General Introduction Welcome to June and the start of winter. Traditionally this is our quiet time of year as a lot of our customers wind down toward the end of the financial year. Having said that I think that most of our branches are quite busy! We are almost half way through the football season and as at today we have the Hawks on top of the AFL ladder and the Rabbitoh’s sitting pretty on the NRL ladder. Should be an interesting second half of the season. Hope everyone enjoys the Queen’s birthday this weekend. Raise a glass and enjoy a day...

May 2013 News

General Introduction Hello all and welcome to May. April was certainly the month of short weeks. With both Easter and ANZAC Day I hope everyone has had a bit of down time! Footy season is well underway now and as at the end of April the table is interesting. Melbourne Storm are top of the NRL table with the Rabbitoh’s snapping at their heels. Essendon, Port Adelaide and the Cats are all five from five with only the percentages separating them. As mentioned last month John F was in Hobart and then early in April he did a stint in Melbourne, so...

April 2013 News

General Introduction April is here and Happy Easter to all! Welcome to edition six. Footy season has started and as I write this believe it or not, the Rabbitoh’s are on top of the NRL ladder, tied with the Melbourne Storm. Go the bunnies! The AFL have only played the first half of a split round so by default the Bombers are in top spot. That will make Michael in Launceston a very happy man. Sorry mate, it won’t last. So that’s my footy report for the month. SYDNEY Our month is Sydney has been another quiet one. The reefer and air...

March 2013 News

General Introduction So that’s February done and dusted. Welcome to March and edition five! By all accounts it has been another busy month work-wise. There have been people on holidays, people filling in, casuals employed, people relocated and much, much more. Hard to keep up with where everyone is at the moment. As we are one week away from the start of the NRL season and three weeks out from the AFL season. I had no response regarding the tipping competition, so I will take this opportunity to wish everyone all the best for the season. Just...

February 2013 News

General Introduction Welcome to edition four. Hard to believe that January is over and we are into the second month of the year. The weather over the past month has been a bit crazy in all states. We are just thankful that all our staff survived the fires and floods without any injury or property damage. Now on to a different note…….if we have enough interest I would like to run an inter-branch footy tipping competition. For the Victorians and Tasmanians I will run an AFL comp and for the Sydney-siders an NRL comp. Of course anyone is...
