November – January News 2015

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Even though it is now February, welcome one and all to 2015. Once again it has been a long haul between newsletters, but in my defence we had a busy run up to Christmas and then I was missing for a large part of January. I am hoping that you all had a good Christmas and New Year and have started 2015 in good form. All the branches appear to be busy – not quite like December, but not far behind it. Launceston are coping with a few extra challenges at the moment, but more about that later……..   SYDNEY The run up to...

August – October News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION It is hard to believe that three months have zipped by since I wrote our last newsletter. In that time the footy comps have been finalised, the winners have been paid out and probably spent their money by now. Tony Black won our AFL competition with Louise (wife of our yard foreman in Sydney) snapping at his heels the whole season. Third place was taken by Mark Aitken and the boss got the wooden spoon. The NRL competition was a hard fought competition with only a handful of point separating the top contenders. It was...

July News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION The month of July has flown by and August is almost upon us. Hard to believe isn’t it. Before we know it winter will be over and we will all be complaining about the heat. Well, maybe the Tasmanian’s won’t be! We are getting to the pointy end of the football season and things are hotting up in the tipping competition.  We have duel leaders in both the AFL and the NRL. Tony Black and Mark Atkin are leading the AFL and Jim Giotakis and Mark Atkin are leading the NRL. Think a few of you boys (and girls) need to work a bit...

June News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Hello all and welcome to winter. I don’t know what the other branches have experienced, but in Sydney, winter didn’t start until around a week ago. We were still having balmy 24 degree days and it was fabulous. A bit chillier now and I expect that winter has finally arrived. Fantastic football weather! Go the Swans – sorry Tony, Dave et al. I have to write the newsletter – my prerogative. The tipping is still going well and by all accounts there are a whole lot of people jockeying for front position. The NRL leader is...

May News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION   Welcome to May and what is supposed to be the last month of autumn. I’m not sure what it is like in the other states, but here in Sydney we are still averaging 25 degrees each day and no cold weather in sight. Whilst it is lovely I am hankering to put on a jumper and a woolly scarf! The footy tipping comp is heating up with the leaders being hunted down by a couple of persistent players who are nibbling away at the lead each week. The NRL leader is in front by one point and the AFL leader is out in front by two....

April News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Happy Easter to one and all. We hope that you put it in well and all had a relaxing time off. A four day weekend is always lovely and now we all have a three day week and another three day weekend. The footy tipping is well and truly in full swing and we have already had an outright winner in Last Man Standing for the NRL. The lucky guy was Shaun Oliver in our Launceston depot. Well done mate! At last check there was basically only a handful of points between first and last place, so keep those tips coming. It’s anyone’s...

March News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Welcome to March and the kick-off of footy season. Can’t wait. The NRL starts this week, followed by the AFL on the 14th. Out intrepid Tony is running an inter branch tipping comp. $50 for the season and you MUST TIP BOTH CODES. It will be a lot of fun and with the numbers we have at present we will be looking at a 1st prize of around $300 per code. The more that play, the bigger the prize. Get on board – let Tony or myself know and we will include you. Tips in to Tony before round one commences Thursday 6th March. We are...

January – February News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION As I sit here writing this, I keep thinking to myself:- “it can’t possibly be February already, can it?” Well it is and what a frightening thought. We are already in to the 2nd month of 2014. The boss and I had holidays in January, hence the lack of a newsletter, so we have a little catching up to do. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and for those of you with kids, I hope that their return to school all went without a hitch. My trusty summer sport’s reporters, Anne and Arun tell me that Australia...

I98 CAMP QUALITY CHARITY RUN

SUNDAY 17th NOVEMBER 2013 – APPIN ROAD TO CROOME ROAD, ALBION  PARK   To say that this event ran on the above date is to discount the amount of time and effort that goes into organising something so momentous.   Months of planning and lobbying local businesses, both transport and retail, takes time, dedication and commitment from a dedicated band of people. A big thank you goes to them all. But let’s join this event on Thursday 14thNovember when local Wollongong radio station I98 held their yearly auction for lead position in...

December 2013 News

GENERAL INTRODUCTION So, if we thought that October finished well, November takes the cake I think. What a busy month for all branches. With Christmas just around the corner things aren’t going to get much quieter for a week or two. There should be a few Christmas parties coming up. I know that Melbourne got in early and have celebrated theirs already, but more about that later……. So a quick update on the cricket………….. I know that we won the first test at the Gabba and Anne and Arun tell me that we are likely to win the second which starts...
