November – January News 2015

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Even though it is now February, welcome one and all to 2015. Once again it has been a long haul between newsletters, but in my defence we had a busy run up to Christmas and then I was missing for a large part of January. I am hoping that you all had a good Christmas and New Year and have started 2015 in good form. All the branches appear to be busy – not quite like December, but not far behind it. Launceston are coping with a few extra challenges at the moment, but more about that later……..   SYDNEY The run up to Christmas was a busy time for us in Sydney. Tassie...

August – October News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION It is hard to believe that three months have zipped by since I wrote our last newsletter. In that time the footy comps have been finalised, the winners have been paid out and probably spent their money by now. Tony Black won our AFL competition with Louise (wife of our yard foreman in Sydney) snapping at his heels the whole season. Third place was taken by Mark Aitken and the boss got the wooden spoon. The NRL competition was a hard fought competition with only a handful of point separating the top contenders. It was taken out by Sydney’s Jim Giotakis and believe it or...

July News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION The month of July has flown by and August is almost upon us. Hard to believe isn’t it. Before we know it winter will be over and we will all be complaining about the heat. Well, maybe the Tasmanian’s won’t be! We are getting to the pointy end of the football season and things are hotting up in the tipping competition.  We have duel leaders in both the AFL and the NRL. Tony Black and Mark Atkin are leading the AFL and Jim Giotakis and Mark Atkin are leading the NRL. Think a few of you boys (and girls) need to work a bit harder to knock Mark off his perch! SYDNEY The boys...

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Hello all and welcome to winter. I don’t know what the other branches have experienced, but in Sydney, winter didn’t start until around a week ago. We were still having balmy 24 degree days and it was fabulous. A bit chillier now and I expect that winter has finally arrived. Fantastic football weather! Go the Swans – sorry Tony, Dave et al. I have to write the newsletter – my prerogative. The tipping is still going well and by all accounts there are a whole lot of people jockeying for front position. The NRL leader is still out in front by one point and the AFL leader is...

May News 2014

GENERAL INTRODUCTION   Welcome to May and what is supposed to be the last month of autumn. I’m not sure what it is like in the other states, but here in Sydney we are still averaging 25 degrees each day and no cold weather in sight. Whilst it is lovely I am hankering to put on a jumper and a woolly scarf! The footy tipping comp is heating up with the leaders being hunted down by a couple of persistent players who are nibbling away at the lead each week. The NRL leader is in front by one point and the AFL leader is out in front by two. Things are getting serious and I think that there...

GENERAL INTRODUCTION Happy Easter to one and all. We hope that you put it in well and all had a relaxing time off. A four day weekend is always lovely and now we all have a three day week and another three day weekend. The footy tipping is well and truly in full swing and we have already had an outright winner in Last Man Standing for the NRL. The lucky guy was Shaun Oliver in our Launceston depot. Well done mate! At last check there was basically only a handful of points between first and last place, so keep those tips coming. It’s anyone’s game at the moment. SYDNEY March was a busier...
